Core App Data

BoatSpeed calculates and displays speed-related information (such as speed over ground and unit conversions) using data provided by your device sensors or user input.

  • All calculations are processed locally on your device.
  • We do not collect, store, or transmit your boating or location data to our servers.
  • Any values used for calculations remain on your device and are typically cleared when the app is closed or reset, ensuring your data is private to your device.

Location Data

BoatSpeed may request access to your device’s location services to calculate and display your speed and heading.

  • Location data is used only while the App is in use and for the sole purpose of providing speed and heading calculations.
  • Location data is not stored or transmitted by Skipjack Studios.
  • You may disable location access at any time in your device settings; however, disabling location services will prevent BoatSpeed from displaying speed and heading features.

Information Collected by Anonymous Analytics (Google Firebase)

BoatSpeed uses Google’s Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to provide crash reporting and basic, anonymous analytics. This helps us improve the app’s performance and stability.

  • Firebase Analytics: Collects anonymous, aggregated data such as app version, device model, operating system version, and general usage patterns (e.g., feature usage, session duration) to help us understand how the app is used and make informed development decisions.
  • Crashlytics: Records technical details about app crashes (e.g., device model, OS version, stack trace) to help us diagnose and fix stability issues.

This data does not identify you personally and does not include your location or specific boating data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected solely to:

  • Provide the core speed and heading calculation features of the App.
  • Improve the App’s functionality, user experience, and stability.
  • Diagnose and fix crashes and technical issues.

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.

  • No location, speed, or boating data is shared with third parties.
  • Anonymous analytics data collected by Firebase is handled according to Google’s Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

4. Data Security

BoatSpeed processes data locally on your device and does not transmit personal or location data. We rely on the security measures provided by your device’s operating system and Apple’s platform to protect the app environment.

5. Your Rights and Choices

  • Location Data: You can disable location services at any time via your device’s settings. Please note this will affect the functionality of BoatSpeed.
  • Analytics: You can opt-out of Firebase Analytics data collection by uninstalling the app or managing app-specific settings if available in future versions.
  • Data Access/Deletion: Since we do not collect or store your personal data, there is no personal data for you to access, correct, or delete from our servers.

6. Children’s Privacy

BoatSpeed is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. International Data Transfers

The App processes data locally on your device. Anonymous analytics data sent to Google Firebase is subject to Google’s data handling practices.
